PREVENTION OF FRAUDS AND PERJURIES

Section 506:1

    506:1 Sale of Land. – No action shall be maintained upon a contract for the sale of land unless the agreement upon which it is brought, or some memorandum thereof, is in writing and signed by the party to be charged, or by some person authorized by him in writing.

Section 506:2

    506:2 Special Promises, Etc. – No action shall be brought to charge an executor or administrator upon a special promise to answer damages out of his own estate or to charge any person upon a special promise to answer for the debt, default or miscarriage of another, or upon any agreement made in consideration of marriage or that is not to be performed within one year from the time of making it, unless such promise or agreement, or some note or memorandum thereof, is in writing and signed by the party to be charged or by some person authorized by him.

Section 506:2-a

    506:2-a Actions Against Persons Discharged as Bankrupt. – No action shall be maintained against any person who may have been discharged as a bankrupt under the laws of the United States, or under the laws of this state pertaining to insolvency proceedings or assignments for the benefit of creditors, upon any promise to pay any debt or demand from which he was or shall be released by such discharge, unless such promise is made after such discharge, and is in writing and signed by the party to be charged therewith.

Section 506:3

    506:3 Assignment of Wages. – No assignment of, or order for, wages to be earned in the future shall be valid against a creditor of the person making it until it has been accepted in writing and a copy of it and of the acceptance has been filed with the clerk of the town or city where the party making it resides.

    506:4 Record of Assignments. – The clerks of towns and cities shall keep for public inspection an alphabetical list of all such orders and assignments filed with them.
