Committee Function:
It shall be the duty of the Committee on State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs to consider all matters pertaining to the National Guard and other military or veterans’ organizations within the state, potential actions by the U.S. Congress which will have a major impact on the state and the New England region, and all proposed resolutions petitioning the Congress on any matter; to maintain communication with the congressional delegation; to serve as a liaison between the New Hampshire House and the United States Congress; emergency management; and such other matters as may be referred to it.

Personal Biography
Stacie-Marie Groves-Laughton born Feb 28th 1984 is an American politician who was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives in the 2012 elections.As a member of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, she would represent the Nashua-area Ward 4 alongside David Cote and Mary Gorman. She was also a selectman in Ward 4 in Nashua. (Selectmen in New Hampshire city wards are solely responsible for organizing, counting, and calling elections. Laughton has studied government since she was 14 years of age. She has a long history of serving her community. She has come from a miseducating background of a middle class upbringing. Born in Nashua NH & growing up in Nashua she has lived in Laconia and has been homeless and now has built a life back to the middle class and loving the opportunities she has in serving her community and State of New Hampshire. She believes in leaving no one left behind.
Local Government Involvement
In 2019, Laughton to run for public office again and formed an exploratory committee in hopes of returning to city government. She ran for, and won, her former selectman seat in Nashua that year. In 2020, she once again ran for the New Hampshire House of Representatives, ultimately winning the seat. So currently she serves as a Selectman in Ward 4 in Nashua as a election official.
Miscellaneous Information:
Stacie-Marie Groves-Laughton was the first out transgender elected official in New Hampshire, and is believed to be the first out transgender person elected to a state legislature anywhere in the United States. Her only known predecessor, Althea Garrison, was outed as transgender by The Boston Herald only after she had already been elected, and does not self-identify as transgender. Now that Laughton has returned to the New Hampshire House of Representatives she now joins a long list of transgender elected officials around the nation including joining fellow NH Reps who are transgender also.
