STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Eleven

AN ACT extending the public health services improvement council.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Council Established. Amend 2007, 250:2 to read as follows:

250:2 Council Established. There is established a public health improvement services council to improve the New Hampshire public health system’s capacity to provide essential services, to monitor the implementation of existing public health improvement plans, and to develop a public health improvement plan.

2 New Subparagraph; Member Added. Amend 2007, 250:3 by inserting after subparagraph (q) the following new subparagraph:

(r) A representative of the New Hampshire Health Officers Association, appointed by the association.

3 Duties. Amend the introductory paragraph of subparagraph I(a) of 2007, 250:4 to read as follows:

(a) Develop a public health improvement plan which shall be based on the 10 essential public health services and shall recommend priorities and strategies to improve the public health system and health status of New Hampshire residents, taking into consideration national health objectives and systems standards such as the National Public Health Performance Standards and the Public Health Accreditation Board Standards, as frameworks for assessment.

4 New Subparagraph; Duty Added. Amend RSA 2007, 250:4, I by inserting after subparagraph (b) the following new subparagraph:

(c) Monitor the implementation of plans to strengthen the local and regional public health infrastructure.

5 Report Extended. Amend 2007, 250:6 as amended by 2009, 202:9 to read as follows:

250:6 Report. The council shall make an interim report on or before January 1, [2008] 2012 and a final report on or before November 1, [2010] 2014 with its findings and any recommendations for proposed legislation to the speaker of the house of representatives, the president of the senate, the house clerk, the senate clerk, the governor, and the state library.

6 Effective Date. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
