STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twelve

AN ACT requiring a vegetarian diet for inmates in state correctional facilities.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 New Section; General Provisions; Inmate Diet. Amend RSA 622 by inserting after section 23 the following new section:

622:23-a Inmate Diet. Within 6 months of the effective date of this section, all meals served to inmates in state correctional facilities shall be vegetarian. Exceptions may be allowed for Sundays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Inmates shall receive vitamin and mineral supplements to their diet as may be necessary.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
