STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twelve
A RESOLUTION urging Congress to privatize all aspects of social security.
Whereas, privatization of Social Security and its subdivisions would allow workers to control their own retirement money, health insurance, and disability accounts through personal investment accounts; and
Whereas, specific regulations would ensure that private accounts would be at the highest possible interest rate compounded daily for the best result over every person’s lifetime; and
Whereas, the social security program from its foundation was intended to be a supplement for retirement and was not intended to be the only economic resource for retired persons; and
Whereas, Congress has seen this reality and has legislated numerous government regulated supplement programs, including, but not limited to, food stamps, public housing, and fuel assistance to go along with the social security program as social security alone for millions of Americans would leave many Americans economically destitute; and
Whereas, Congress has a better version of such benefits for themselves under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS); now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the general court of New Hampshire hereby urges Congress to privatize all aspects of Social Security; and
That copies of this resolution, signed by the speaker of the house of representatives and the senate president, be sent by the house clerk by United States mail to the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, the President of the United States Senate, and to each member of the New Hampshire congressional delegation.
