STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Fifteen

AN ACT relative to property owners’ consent for smart meter gateway devices.

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

1 Smart Meter Gateway Devices; Property Owner’s Consent Required. Amend RSA 374:62, I(a) to read as follows:

(a) “Smart meter gateway device” means any [electric utility meter, electric utility meter component, electric utility load control device, or device ancillary to the electric utility meter, which is located at an end-user’s residence or business, and which serves as a communications gateway or portal to electrical appliances, electrical equipment, or electrical devices within the end-user’s residence or business, or which otherwise communicates with, monitors, or controls such electrical appliances, electrical equipment, or electrical devices] device capable of being read through a wired or wireless network by a utility corporation and used by such utility to measure the delivery of electricity, water, propane, or natural gas, to a resident.

2 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
