This bill requires towns and cities to give notice to property owners when a property reassessment affecting the owners appraisals for property tax purposes is completed.

STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Seventeen

 

AN ACT relative to notice to property owners regarding changes in assessments of property values for tax purposes.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1 Appraisal of Taxable Property; Notice to Owners.  Amend the section heading of RSA 75:8 to read as follows:

75:8  Revised Inventory; Notice to Owners.

2  New Paragraph; Appraisal of Taxable Property;  Notice to Owners of Change.  Amend RSA 75:8 by inserting after paragraph II the following new paragraph:

III.  When appraisals of taxable property in a town, city, or governmental division are adjusted by a full evaluation, a cyclical revaluation, a partial revaluation, or a statistical update, the selectmen or assessors shall provide notice, before implementation of the revaluation, to each owner of taxable property affected of:  the adjusted valuation of the owner's property; the percent change in valuation of the property from the prior valuation; the adjusted total dollar amount of the appraised property in the town, city, or governmental division; and the percent change in the total dollar amount of the appraised property in the town, city, or governmental division from the prior valuation.

3  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
