STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Three

 

AN ACT relative to the inspection of hotel guest records.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Records Open to Inspection.  Amend RSA 353:3 to read as follows:

353:3  Register, Open to Inspection.  All hotel keepers and all persons keeping public lodging houses, tourist camps, or cabins shall keep a [book or card system and cause each guest to sign therein his own legal name or name by which he is commonly known.  Said book or card system shall at all times be open to the inspection of the sheriff or his deputies and to any police officer.] record of each guest.  Such record shall at all times be open to the inspection of the sheriff or the sheriff's deputies and to any police officer.  The term "public lodging house" as here used shall mean a lodging house where more than 2 rooms are habitually let for less than a week at a time for the accommodation of transients.  Whoever violates any provision of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
