STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Four

 

AN ACT relative to the New Hampshire state flag.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  State Emblems, Flag, etc.; State Flag.  Amend RSA 3:2 to read as follows:

3:2 State Flag. The state flag shall be of the following color and design: The body or field shall be blue and shall bear upon its center in suitable proportion and colors a representation of the state seal. The seal shall be surrounded by a wreath of laurel leaves with nine stars interspersed.  The flag shall include the words of New Hampshire's state motto: “Live Free or Die” in the same color as the laurel leaves surrounding the state seal. The motto “Live Free or Die” shall be centered just below the state seal.  The state seal and the motto shall be positioned to center the entire image in the blue field. The font used for the motto shall be Times New Roman. The motto shall appear in sufficient size and proportion to the state seal. When used for military purposes the flag shall conform to the regulations of the United States.

2 Depletion of Existing Stock of Flags. To the extent possible, the new flag shall be phased in as needed over a 5-year period to allow for the use of existing stocks of old flags.

3 Effective Date. This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
