STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE

 

In the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand Twenty Four

 

AN ACT relative to providing an alternate address to the department of motor vehicles.

 

Be it Enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court convened:

 

1  Department of Motor Vehicles Applications; Temporary Alternate Address. Amend RSA 260:10 to read as follows:

260:10 Applications.

I.  Every application filed with the department under the provisions of this chapter or other laws and rules relative to motor vehicles shall contain the words "This application is signed under penalty of unsworn falsification pursuant to RSA 641:3." The director, upon evidence satisfactory to him or her that the person who has made an application under the provisions of this chapter or other laws and rules relative to motor vehicles has made any materially false statement in such application, or used fraudulent documents in connection with such application, shall, after hearing, suspend or revoke the license or certificate of registration issued to such person.

II.  Upon request, New Hampshire residents who are or will be temporarily absent from their residence, as defined in RSA 21:6-a, for a period of less than 6 months, may designate an alternate mailing address outside of New Hampshire to which the director of the division motor vehicles shall mail correspondence or products issued by the division, provided that:

(a)  The request must be submitted on a form approved by the director and authorized under RSA 541-A; and

(b)  The division shall not send an original New Hampshire driver license or identification card to an alternate mailing address outside of New Hampshire as provided in this paragraph.

2  Effective Date.  This act shall take effect 60 days after its passage.
